I've tried several, all seemed to scrape rather than cut. I've never met someone who actually enjoys a carbon blade. I started with Gillette Platinums (loved them but hard to find/expensive). I will suggest avoiding carbon blades however. MÜHLE R106 8 years ago I think I found 'my blade' (Gillette Silver Blue) So Ive been doing the whole sample packs thing. But it might be the absolute best blade for you out there. Most replies on this thread about the Gillette Platinum are okay, not bad, not amazing either. Doesn't mean it's the best one for you though. Lots of newer shavers on here will comment "Use X, it's the best blade!". But whether they work well for you depends so much on what your hair, soap, skin, and razor are like, as well as the coating on the blade (Platinum, Stainless Steel, Chromium, Teflon, Carbon) that it's impossible to outright recommend them to random people. Some blades are sharper (Feather, Gillette Nacets) and some blades are milder (Derby Extra, Derby Premium, Shark Super Stainless). Unless it has to do with quality control (chipped or warped blades), there is no such thing as a best blade. ![]() Others swear by Derby Extras, but Derby's are one of the few blades out there that I 100% can not get a good shave out of no matter what I try.īest way to figure out what works is to go to tryablade and buy a couple samplers (the top 10 is a safe bet).Īnd ignore blade reviews. They're just okay for me, as they leave my neck a tiny bit more irritated than normal and don't last for as many shaves. Some really like Feathers since they are the sharpest. ![]() I like Gillette Silver Blues and PolSilver SI blades. Everyone's skin, hair, razors, soaps, angles, and pressures are different, so which blades work best is entirely dependent on who is using it. What works for some might not work for others. But that doesn't mean anything to you though.īlades are completely subjective. New? Curious? Have questions?
